TICKET TO PARADISE (M) Review

Ticket to Paradise is a new movie starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney. Roberts and Clooney play a divorced couple who must 'team up' to prevent their daughter from getting married to a man she just met.

Ticket to Paradise has been described by many people as the kind of movie you need to watch just because it's got Julia Roberts and George Clooney. Now that I've seen the movie, I can say that this statement is pretty much true. Roberts and Clooney are both perfect in their respective roles. They each know exactly how to portray their characters by making them feel as real as possible. The chemistry between them is... well, exactly what you would want it to be for a couple who were madly in love, then quickly got married, then had a daughter, then got divorced, but are now being forced to agree on something.

So yes, you have got to see Ticket to Paradise if only to see Julia Roberts and George Clooney. However (as other critics may suggest), they are not the only good thing to come out of this movie. This movie has some other great actors playing their characters perfectly. Special mention to the late Carrie Fisher's daughter playing her character Wren super well. Plus this movie is funny, like really funny. You will be laughing out loud at numerous moments throughout the film. It has some brilliant locations (as the name would suggest) and has a nice storyline with a little moral-of-the-story to top it off. All in all, Ticket to Paradise is just good entertainment. It's the movie that keeps you occupied for two hours, makes you laugh a bit and leaves you feeling better than you were when you walked in.

Ticket to Paradise isn't a complex movie. It hasn't got some twisted storyline with shocker moments. This is the kind of movie that I find myself leaning towards a bit more. If a complex movie is done well (for example The Dark Knight), then it can become a cinematic masterpiece. However, not every movie needs to be a cinematic masterpiece. Ticket to Paradise is a nice simple movie that may not be winning any Academy Awards but will be making all of its audiences feel good.

Of course, I can't completely ignore the plotholes in this movie. Yes, there were a couple of moments that made absolutely no sense. But being a movie that is this enjoyable to watch, it is easy to spend thirty seconds making up your own little backstory to fill in these plotholes or to just completely brush over them. In the grand scheme of things, they hardly matter.

I would seriously recommend this movie to anyone. It isn't going to blow you away but you aren't going to be at all disappointed. It is the movie that was made keeping in mind the purpose of movies: to entertain! There are many movies out there that get carried away with special effects or deep storylines. But Ticket to Paradise fulfils the aim of entertaining and gifts a truly enjoyable experience to the audience.
